CPL revisited

I found out that CPL in fact used two of my images for their 2012 calendar. Below are two badly screen grabbed pictures of January and April

Two day project- Meadham Kirchoff SS12 Illustration

Meadham Kirchoff paper dolly, I couldn't think of an ironic girls name that was the epitome of "innocent" and "wholesome". But she does need a name.
I think if you understood the collection you'll understand why I tried to illustrate it using a paper doll.
It's not the final thing, but this project is completely unimportant (no one even bothered to check we'd done it.)
It needs to be a little more sinister.
But that'll do for now.
Ink and stick, photographed, then basic cs5

BAMBOO

Recently received a Bamboo tablet! Unfortunately I appear to be terrible on it. I really don't know what I'm doing and I've got so accustomed to beloved stick that I can barely hold the pen.
This is my first attempt at drawing using the tablet, using Photoshop CS5. It's a bit pants, and the colours are probably off- for some reason colours look completely different on my laptop.
Anyway, off to practise x

P.s it's supposed to be Lara

Montage

Skinhead inspired Montage. Collage,  head photocopied onto brown paper then I used ink and a stick (WOOO) and drew and shaded in the jacket and the wording which is quoted from Nick Knights "Skinhead" book.
I love ink and sticks.

First time I've done detail in a while.

Recent

Haven't been doing much worth posting.
I finally got a film camera so have been messing around with that, a lot cheaper than using disposable. I managed to find a lot of Kodak film for a pound- not the right speed but the results aren't too shabby and then I wait till I go back to the midlands to get them developed. The cheapest in London is £6, home= £3 plus I get a free roll of film because I don't want them put onto a CD. Finding film photography much more interesting than using the SLR. (= my interesting life lol)
Don't worry, I have no intention of becoming a photographer aha. Some Snapshots from places I've been in the last few weeks, Southend and a thames boat ride in the rain aha.

Also dabbled in some collaging, the collaging was done by hand- each flower I took photo's of my self, cut everything out and stuck it together. Then it was scanned in and mirrored on CS5 and messed about with.
It was an entry for a competition but I didn't win. I don't think I followed the brief too well.
I really like purple at the minute...
I also layered some of my collaging in the background of this photograph (yes I recycled photographs from my "Active" project- but I had two weeks to do it and the competition ended a few days before my final deadline!)  It's supposed to look like she's whipping her hair around and all of the "scents" are flying out. (it was for a scents company aha).
Still no expert on Photoshop, I'm gonna dedicate some of my time over the holidays to do some tutorials online etc.

Also it was my birthday on tuesday, and I was lucky enough to receive a Bamboo tablet from my "in-laws", so I no longer have to do everything on the trackpad on my laptop! colouring etc should be neater from now on.

N.
Need to get practising!

Your Piques

I recently joined a new (very new) website called Your Piques, it offers anyone the chance to upload clothing designs and possibly see them become reality.
I urge everyone and anyone to try it out, I really think it might take off.

http://yourpiques.com/yourpiques

Signing up is straight forward, uploading is quick and easy. No doubt as the popularity grows it'll attract more and more people, perhaps even industry types. So even if your an illustrator (like me, I know nothing about designing clothes) there are still a tonne of benefits!

Please check it out.

(My first design, the shirt dress I've been envisioning and lusting over -and comparing to the crap amount of actual shirt dresses available- for quite some time. I hope they make it so I can steal it and wear it all summer.)
Freehand Ink + pointy stick (as per usual I really need to attempt to draw with something else at some point), coloured badly in CS5

Photo Album- quick post

I decided to treat my sister to a photo album, she's recently become obsessed with film photography.
She also has an obsession with cats!
My aim for today was to find a quirky cat related photo album, that didn't go so well. I guess everyone elses obsession with cats has disappeared or is just reserved for tumblr?
Anyway I ended up DIY-ing a Paperchase album. Using my cat-cup-cakes.
This photo is awful! BUT I think they print out quite well onto brown paper?

The execution could have been better but this was an half an hour job!
About to pop off to Euston to get the train home for the night, photoshoot early tomorrrow!

SOME UNPROFESSIONAL

images of what I've been doing lately. We've recently started a module on moving images, the aim to create a short fashion film.
It's a group project and we've been assigned Shane Meadows (This Is England, Somer's Town, Twenty Four Seven etc...) as our inspiration for film direction and Alexander McQueen as the inspiration for content.

I am excited about this project, but motivation to get started has been lacking. I think it's because I put so much into the last project I just felt exhausted. It's abismal but I've literally done nothing for six weeks! This is how my last project started, when it comes to uni work I have to find some sort of spark. I just don't feel the pressure (paid and commissioned work I'm just like CRAP people are expecting stuff, I feel a weight of responsibility almost and it encourages me) Uni work I'm just like.. meh... The bad thing is this project is SHORT, and I'm now half way through it!

This week I finally started illustrating, I've basically been summarising all of the menswear collections using my ink and stick technique (I really need to learn something new!)

Here are some amazing webcam shots (my camera lead has ran away.)

free hand ink and pointy stick.
sorry for my face.

Disorder Magazine!

At last, one of the secret projects revealed (I now have more due to the success of this :D)

I got given the brief, being solely the word "Party" and left to my own devices. I had two days to complete it, each picture was hand drawn scanned and badly photoshopped! I still don't really know what I'm doing but thankfully they liked the doodle quality and rawness of it!
I took the word party and twisted it into some cute meets odd wildlife affair. Don't judge me, I don't really know what's going on in my head.
Some of the central image was cut off during binding! In hindsight linking the two pages together wasn't a brilliant idea. But atleast I know for the future, and I don't think it's too obvious? Just missing the rabbit jelly :(
They were even nice enough to add me to the contributors section! Writing a bio about myself was even more difficult than doing my ridiculous illustrations.
Looking forward now to getting on with more projects (non uni related!) My recent collaboration with Elliott Morgan and my illustrations in this magazine have led to more work.

Who knows

ink, scanned, coloured.
erm.
I toyed with the idea of entering a competition based on the senses for about an hour (when I was doing this, it's supposed to be a combination of touch and hearing? I don't know) but gave up. I realised my initial free hand ink and stick drawing was badddddddddd. It's fine doing that freehand stuff when it's left as it is, but if you add photoshop- something far more polished it really emphasises the initial flaws.
This is the terrible result.
